A Timeless Couples Maternity Session in West Perth

Recently, we had the absolute pleasure of photographing a beautiful couples maternity session at Harold Boas Gardens, a tranquil inner-city oasis tucked away in West Perth. With its mature sweeping tree canopy, striking wrought-iron accents and quiet pathways, the historic gardens provided an idyllic, natural backdrop to celebrate the anticipation of a growing family.

Elegant Styling in a Natural Setting

Wardrobe choices heavily influence the final mood of a photography gallery. For this outdoor session, the expectant mother chose a stunning white off-the-shoulder lace dress featuring delicate bell sleeves. The flowing fabric and intricate textures contrasted beautifully against the deep, earthy greens of the park foliage and the rustic charm of an ivy-covered iron door. A single pink flower tucked into her dark hair added a subtle, warm touch of colour. Her partner complemented the relaxed aesthetic perfectly in a casual, layered over-shirt and dark trousers, allowing the visual focus to remain entirely on their connection and the baby bump.

We approached this gallery with a mix of classic black-and-white portraiture and warm, natural colour photography. Stripping away colour in selected images instantly draws the viewer’s eye directly to the emotion of the moment—the gentle smiles shared on the footbridge, the quiet laughter beneath the jacaranda branches and the tender placement of their hands over the bump.

In the colour photographs, we utilised the soft, diffused natural light filtering through the garden’s canopy.
