9:00 AM – Modern Luxury at The Westin Perth Hotel
The morning began at The Westin Perth, a venue that has quickly become a favorite for couples seeking high-end sophistication.
The architecture here is a photographer’s dream. We focused on the “getting ready” moments and intimate portraits, utilizing the hotel’s expansive windows and soft, diffused light. The Westin’s aesthetic is clean, polished, and contemporary, providing a neutral yet luxurious backdrop that allows the details—the lace of the gown, the sparkle of the rings, and the quiet anticipation of the couple—to take center stage.
Photography Tip:For morning sessions at The Westin, we prioritize the play of shadows and light against the modern interiors to create a “Fine Art” editorial feel before heading into the city streets.
10:00 AM – Timeless Heritage at the Old Tower House
As the clock struck ten, we transitioned from the modern heights of the hotel to the grounded, historic charm of the Old Tower House on Francis Street.
Built in the late 1800s, this is one of Perth’s most iconic heritage landmarks. The warm, textured red brickwork and gothic-style architecture offer a complete shift in vibe from our first location. There is a sense of legacy and weight here that adds a layer of “Old World” romance to the photos.
We used the iconic arched doorways and the intricate brick detailing to frame the couple, creating portraits that feel like they could have been taken a hundred years ago, yet remain strikingly modern due to the couple’s contemporary styling.
10:30 AM – The Urban Oasis of Russell Square
To round out the session, we took a short walk to Russell Square between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
Entering Russell Square feels like stepping into a secret garden hidden within the Northbridge bustle. The square is famous for its massive, ancient trees and lush green canopy. At this time of the morning, the sun begins to filter through the leaves, creating beautiful “dappled light” that is incredibly flattering for wedding photography.
The vibe here was much more relaxed and ethereal. We captured the couple walking together under the trees, sharing candid laughs away from the city traffic. It provided the “nature” element that every wedding gallery needs, proving you don’t have to leave the CBD to find a stunning green backdrop.
Why This Multi-Location Timeline Works
Planning a wedding shoot across three locations in just two hours might sound daunting, but for a Perth city wedding, it is the ultimate way to get variety in your gallery.
1. Variety of Texture: You get the “Glass/Luxury” of the Westin, the “Brick/History” of Tower House, and the “Greenery/Nature” of Russell Square.
2. Proximity: These locations are all within a few blocks of each other, meaning less time in the car and more time in front of the lens.
3. The Light: By finishing at Russell Square by 11:00 AM, we avoid the harsh, overhead midday sun, keeping your photos soft and romantic.
